How About the Techniques Used In Creating Printouts on Sublimation Fabric Printing

Many print service providers like dye sublimation transfer printing because it allows them to have more control with the quality of the image being printed. However, the process is considered to be wasteful and time-consuming because of the necessity of having to use transfer paper.

But when we speak of textile sublimation printing, we do not just mean a single process by which printouts are created on fabrics. There are at least three techniques used in creating printouts on fabric, and each technique has advantages and disadvantages over the others. The three major techniques used in textile printing using wide-format printers.

This is what you need to know about sublimation paper. As mentioned above, for you to get ideal results in your work, use a high-quality paper. This calls for you to buy a dye sublimation printing paper with all the three coatings. To increase your chances of purchasing a high-quality sublimation paper, buy from a reputable store.

So as we say, different types of digital sublimation printing machine, for the dye sublimation ink consumption is not the same, a good digital printing machine for you to save more ink, thereby reducing your manufacturing costs. But different from the car is that digital printing machine will not be compromised because of the performance and compromise.

We have a factory produce the sublimation printing equipment, like the sublimation printer, heat press machine also the sublimation paper, if you have any needs pls feel free to let me know.

How To Solve The Moisture Problem Of Sublimation Printing Paper?

The introduction of moisture into the sublimation printing process can cause unwanted results. During production with a heat press operating at 400°C /204°C, moisture can flash to steam and literally blow the ink away from its intended target. Some of the problems that are attributed to moisture include color shifting , image bleeding and the uneven transfer of solid-filled areas.

Under normal circumstances, a small amount of moisture can accumulate in the transfer paper and it’s usually absorbed directly into the substrate during pressing. However, hard substrates, like metal and ceramic, are unable to absorb excess moisture. Thus, it’s important that you take steps to minimize the introduction of moisture into the process.

The first step is to protect the paper from moisture absorption. As a preventative measure, store your paper in a dry place. Consider a sealed container such as a re-sealable bag. If you suspect moisture, set the paper on your press for a few seconds. Do not press it; just expose it to the warmth. The heat radiating from the press should help evaporate most of the moisture.

Another trick is to use newsprint or butcher paper instead of a Teflon sheet. The heat transfer paper will help absorb moisture from the transfer sheet during pressing, whereas Teflon will not. Be sure to use a fresh sheet of paper for each pressing cycle.

If you are working with garments or fabric, it’s also possible that the substrate may contain some moisture. Pre-pressing the garment for about 10 seconds should remove the moisture, as well as any wrinkles. To avoid this problem, keep your paper or fabric in a dry place. If you suspect moisture, try these techniques:

1) Place paper on the raised pedestal bottom of the press and let it dry under the heat platen. Don’t close the heat platen!
2) Pre-press fabric for 10 seconds before transferring
3) Use a fresh, non-textured paper towel behind the transfer sheet

Base Paper of Sublimation Printing Paper

In the market, there are two kinds of different quality sublimation printing paper, the high-quality one and the economic one. One of the reasons that cause the quality difference, is the base paper.

sublimation printing paper

Now there are two kinds of base papers that used to making dye sublimation paper in the market.

1. High Quality base paper.
dye sublimation paperThis type of base paper is made up of needlebush pulp(softwood) and broadleaf pulp(hardwood), the ratio is 7:3 normally.
The fiber is longer, it means the intention of the sublimation paper and the capability of enduring high temperature is better, that will make sure the paper still has the best intension in continuous production process under high temperature, that could protect your paper from breaking which will cause the bad influence to your production.
Also, the tightness is greater, above 0.9g/cm3, the air permeability is smaller. If the tightness is smaller, then the air permeability is greater, that means, during the transfer, the sublimation ink will penetrate the base paper and spread to the backside, and influence the transfer result of sublimation printing paper.

2. Economic base paper.
dye sublimation paper This type is made up of various kinds of mixed pulp of waste paper, such as newspaper, packing paper etc, from our daily life or industrial waste paper. No matter the intention, the capability of enduring high temperature, the tightness, the air permeability, it is weaker than the up-grade base paper.

Anyway, in the sublimation industry, if you are lucky in using the right paper, no problems occur; if you are using the wrong paper, many problems could happen, and the problems will be more and more.

Fei Yue Digital Inc. is based on papermaking and has our own paper making factory. Our sublimation transfer paper has a microporous coating for faster sublimation printing. Any questions, welcome to contact us.
