12-Color DTF Textile Printing

12-Color DTF Printing---Color Freedom That Designers Want

Sublistar’s 12-color DTF T-shirt printing technology perfectly demonstrates the advantages of digital printing. Batch printing can also achieve high-precision output, with clear pattern details and natural color transition, achieving truly seamless printing. It also has outstanding advantages in printing quality and printing speed.

12-color DTF printing, ultra-wide color gamut, covering 90% Pantone colors, is widely used in the pursuit of high-detail design restoration, high-end clothing, artworks, dark fabrics and dark fabrics. The mass production of orders (such as trendy brand customization and artwork reproduction) is willing to pay a higher cost for quality.

12-Color DTF Printing VS 4-Color DTF Printing

The core difference between DTF 12-color printing and ordinary 4-color printing lies in color reproduction accuracy, detail performance and production efficiency, especially in the field of textile customization.

Color performance and color gamut range

12-Color DTF printing:
Color system: using CMYK basic four colors + spot color extension (such as ORGB, light cyan, light magenta, etc.), some models support double white (WWWW) to improve the coverage of dark fabrics.

Color gamut width: 12-color combination can cover more than 90% of the PANTONE color system, achieve seamless gradients, solve the granularity problem of light-colored areas such as skin color and sky, and make color transitions more natural.

Color accuracy: The minimum ink droplet is only 3.8pl (Epson I3200 print head), with high resolution (1800dpi), reducing color level faults, suitable for complex patterns (such as oil painting, rainbow gradient design).

Ordinary 4-color printing:
Color system: only CMYK four-color mixing, relying on ink superposition to simulate other colors, narrow color gamut.

Limitations: Light-colored areas are prone to graininess, highly saturated colors are prone to distortion, and subtle color differences in the design draft cannot be accurately restored.

Detail reproduction and printing accuracy

12-Color DTF Printing: Multi-nozzle collaboration (such as 4 Epson I3200 print heads), through the dual-color/dual-white solution to enhance the detail level, to achieve the effect of “more 2 colors, more 100% details”, especially suitable for complex patterns (such as imitation embroidery, fine lines).
Support high pass number (4Pass/6Pass/8Pass), improve image density, and avoid the white leakage problem of ordinary printing.
4-Color Printing: The resolution is usually ≤4800×1200 dpi, the details are blurred, and complex designs are prone to lose texture.

Production efficiency and cost

Speed and capacity:

12-Color DTF: High-speed models (such as DTF-1204 STAR IV) reach 34㎡/h, support continuous film feeding and automatic powder shaking, shortening the production cycle.

4-Color DTF Printing: The speed is generally lower than 20㎡/h, and frequent shutdowns are required to change inks, resulting in low efficiency in mass production.

Cost comparison:

Equipment investment: The price of 12-color DTF printers is relatively high (about tens of thousands of yuan), but it supports mass production; 4-color equipment has low cost and is suitable for small-scale applications.

Consumables cost: DTF white ink usage saves 40% compared to DTG, but the cost of spot color ink is relatively high; 4-color ink has a low unit price, but insufficient color requires multiple debugging, and hidden costs increase.
