How Do I Maintain UV Flatbed Printer in Summer?

Summer is quickly approaching, and high temperatures are unavoidable. The use of UV flatbed printer equipment in a high temperature and hot environment is a critical test. The high-temperature environment will have an effect not only on the normal operation of UV printers, but also on the use of printer-related electronic board accessories, inkjet printing operations, related printing media, image colors, and so on.


Pay close attention to physical cooling for the UV printer’s space in a high-temperature environment. Keep the working temperature of the printer no higher than 40 degrees. When exposed to high temperatures, the printer may cease to function. Excessive temperature is easily caused by the printer’s relevant control board and affects printing performance, especially when the printer is printing for a long time without interruption. For example, the high temperature of the precision data chip on the motherboard can easily impact data transmission, slow printing speed, and even other serious chip and electronic components, circuit damage, and so on.

Furthermore, if the UV printer’s working environment temperature is too high or too low, it will cause the ink to be disconnected, because the ink used by the UV printer requires a specific index of working environment, the viscosity index of the ink will change with the change of the ambient temperature, and the working voltage of the nozzle corresponding to the different viscosity will also change accordingly, otherwise, it will cause the ink to be unstable. When the temperature rises, the viscosity of the ink decreases. At this point, the nozzle’s working voltage should be properly reduced. Otherwise, bubbles in the ink pipe are easily formed, resulting in no ink being ejected from the spray hole, white lines in the picture, and the photo machine’s inkjet printing being disconnected.

As a result, in the high-temperature working environment of summer, it is appropriate to ventilate and cool the UV printer space. The ventilation of the printer working space is directly related to the temperature of the space, because in a working space with poor ventilation, the heat emitted by the machine during operation, combined with the accumulation of room temperature, can easily lead to an excessively high overall room temperature. Furthermore, in the summer, both indoor and outdoor temperatures are relatively high. If the indoor space is not well ventilated and the temperature cannot be emitted, the machine will be susceptible to breakdown due to the high temperature, affecting UV printer normal printing. Simultaneously, the ink sprayed by the printer during printing can easily produce a strong odor in a stuffy working environment and a high-temperature indoor space, which can easily produce uncomfortable feelings for operators.

Make sure the area around the UV printer is clean. Too much dust in the workplace can easily lead to poor lubrication of the trolley guide shaft, which will obstruct the movement of the print head during the printing process, resulting in inaccurate printing position or hitting the mechanical frame, resulting in damage and crash. When the print head is restarted without returning to its original position, the printer will first return the print head to its original position before cleaning the nozzle, resulting in ink waste. The solution to this problem is to clean and lubricate the guide shaft on a regular basis (choose lubricating oil with good fluidity, such as sewing oil).

Working Platform

It is essential that the UV flatbed printer has a stable working platform and that no objects are placed on top of the UV flatbed printer. When printing, the front cover of the printer must be closed to prevent dust from entering the machine and other hard objects from impeding the movement of the printer trolley. It is forbidden to plug and unplug the printer cable with power, as this will damage the printer’s print port and the parallel port of the PC, as well as the PC’s motherboard. If the print output is not very clear, you can use the printer’s automatic cleaning function to clean the nozzle, but you will need to use a small amount of ink.
Allow the print head to return to its original position before turning off the machine (when the printer is in the pause state, the print head will automatically return to the initial position). This is done first to prevent ink waste when the printer is restarted to clean the nozzle when it is turned on again. Second, because the protective cover can seal the nozzle in its initial position, it is difficult to block.

Ink Cartridge

Users with printer experience understand that the printer must be corrected after reinstalling the ink cartridge or replacing it with a new ink cartridge in order to improve printing accuracy and quality.
When the ink cartridge is not in use, it is best not to remove it to avoid ink waste or printer ink metering errors.
When not in use for an extended period of time, the ink cartridge should be stored at room temperature to avoid direct sunlight. Because the ink evaporates quickly in this environment, nozzle blockage is common. Furthermore, the print head circuit and ink are prone to failure in a low temperature and humid environment. Follow the steps in the operation manual when changing the ink cartridge, and pay special attention to the above operations when the power is turned on. Because, after replacing the ink cartridge, the printer will fill the ink delivery system with ink, which will not occur if the printer is turned off, and the printer will be unable to detect the reinstalled ink cartridge. Furthermore, the UV flatbed printer’s grating strip should protect carefully. To avoid inaccurate positioning, you should not touch it because it will increase the chance of becoming dust-contaminated.
