THE CRAFT
What Are Flock DTF Transfers?
Flock DTF transfers are pre-printed heat transfer graphics that deliver a luxurious, raised velvet texture when applied to fabric — providing your apparel with a high-end tactile finish that perfectly imitates traditional flocking.
VelvetTouch™ is a signature finish within our complete line of Premium Specialty DTF Transfers, designed specifically for high-end garment customization. Unlike standard flat DTF prints, these transfers are manufactured using an advanced hybrid printing process to create a dense, fibrous surface. When pressed at a precise 150°C, the pre-printed film securely bonds to the fabric, resulting in a rich, velvet-like hand feel that engages both sight and touch, accurately reproducing even intricate designs.
Achieving a true velvet effect in-house requires a highly complex screen-printing and DTF hybrid manufacturing setup. To eliminate this friction, each VelvetTouch™ order ships directly to you as ready-to-press transfer sheets. There are no screens to burn, no weeding required, and no need to invest in specialized flocking equipment. You receive professionally crafted, industrial-grade flock transfers; all you need is a standard heat press. This makes it the most efficient, scalable solution for print shops and streetwear labels wanting retail-grade dimensional prints.
Where embroidery adds heavy bulk and standard DTF lies flat, flock transfers strike the perfect balance — premium tactile depth and fine detail reproduction at heat-transfer efficiency. For brands looking to elevate their logos, typography, and custom designs with a sophisticated, soft-touch finish, VelvetTouch™ delivers the superior texture that high-end markets demand.
THE PROCESS
How VelvetTouch™ Flock Transfers Are Made
A 5-step manufacturing process built for consistency at scale — from your design file to the carton at your door.
01
Design Review
You send us your artwork — vector files (AI, PDF, SVG) preferred for the sharpest edges, or high-res raster files we’ll convert. Our art team checks every file for flock-friendly line weights and minimum stroke thickness, then sends you a digital proof for approval before any production starts.
02
Screen Making
Each color in your design requires its own custom-burned silk screen — this one-time setup is what defines our minimum order quantities and ensures precise adhesive coverage on every transfer. Our screens are precision-engineered for our specialty flocking process, with mesh counts optimized to hold the velvet-texture agents at exactly the right density for maximum tactile effect.
03
Printing
We manufacture your design onto premium transfer film using our advanced hybrid process. By integrating DTF technology for full-spectrum color reproduction with precision screen-printing for the tactile flock layer, we create a dense, fibrous surface. This delivers the luxurious velvet feel of traditional flocking with the infinite color depth of DTF, all in a single ready-to-press transfer.
04
Quality Control
Every gang sheet passes a strict inspection: ink density check, registration alignment under magnification, and a destructive test press from each batch. We apply a sample transfer to verify true velvet texture, color match, and wash durability before your full order ships. If a batch doesn’t meet our standard, it’s reprinted at our cost, not yours.
05
Worldwide Shipping
Approved orders ship worldwide via DHL, FedEx, or sea freight — your choice based on urgency and budget. Standard production runs 7–10 business days; rush options available. Each transfer sheet is interleaved with protective film and shipped flat in reinforced cartons to ensure your flock transfers arrive ready to press.

FAQ
How durable are VelvetTouch™ flock transfers after washing?
VelvetTouch™ transfers are rigorously tested for industrial wash durability. The hybrid printing process ensures the velvet texture securely bonds to the fabric fibers. For maximum longevity, we recommend advising your customers to wash garments inside out in cold water on a gentle cycle, and tumble dry on low or hang dry. This preserves the raised tactile finish and prevents the flocking from flattening.
What fabrics are compatible with your printed velvet heat transfers?
Our VelvetTouch™ films are highly versatile. They can be safely applied to 100% cotton, 100% polyester, cotton/poly blends, and most tri-blend fabrics. Because they apply at a relatively low temperature of 150°C (302°F), they significantly reduce the risk of dye migration (bleeding) and scorching on sensitive synthetic fabrics.
Can you explain the exact 2-press application process for the velvet effect?
Yes, achieving the perfect luxurious velvet finish requires a strict two-step pressing cycle. Step 1: Press the transfer onto the garment at 150°C (302°F) with 0.6 MPa (87 psi) pressure for 8 seconds. Step 2: Wait for the film to cool completely, then perform a Cold Peel. Step 3: Once the carrier film is removed, directly press the design a second time under the exact same settings (150°C, 0.6 MPa, 8 seconds). This crucial second press activates and locks in the final rich flock texture.
Do I need to weed these custom flock DTF transfers?
No weeding is required whatsoever. Unlike traditional Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) flock, our VelvetTouch™ transfers are delivered as pre-printed, ready-to-press sheets. You simply align the design on the garment and press, saving your production line massive amounts of labor and time while capturing intricate details that HTV cannot achieve.
What is the best file format to submit for the sharpest tactile edges?
To ensure the highest quality flocking effect, we strongly prefer vector files (.AI, .PDF, .SVG) as they provide crisp, scalable edges for the adhesive layer. We also accept high-resolution raster files (.PNG or .TIFF) at exactly 300 DPI with a transparent background. Our art team will review your files for flock-friendly stroke thickness before any production begins.
Why choose hybrid flock transfers over traditional screen-printed flocking?
Achieving a true velvet effect in-house traditionally requires complex screen-printing infrastructure and messy flocking powders. Our hybrid VelvetTouch™ sheets combine the infinite, full-color reproduction of DTF with the premium tactile feel of specialty screen printing. You get retail-grade, dimensional apparel with zero setup costs, no screen burning, and zero mess—all applied with just a standard commercial heat press.
