UV Printer Makes Porcelain Plate Painting

UV Printer   Porcelain plate painting has always been popular in the home decoration industry. More than ten years ago, when UV printing technology was still underdeveloped, porcelain panel painting was usually made by hand. The paintings processed by this method are expensive and can only be seen in those households with rich assets or in public buildings.

What is porcelain plate painting?

Porcelain plate painting is drawing patterns on the porcelain plate. There are a variety of porcelain plate paintings, including ones of blue and white, five colors, pastel, ink color, light magenta color, etc. the content of pattern covers a wide range, including figures, landscapes, flowers, insects, and birds, fish and algae, etc. The shape has a rectangle, circle, ellipse, multi-directional, multi-angle, and fan.

Compared with paper and silk paintings, the physical and chemical properties of porcelain panel paintings are very stable. They are not afraid of moisture and mildew. Their colors will remain bright for decades.

Nowadays, UV printers can produce delicate patterns, the texture of which are like oil paintings. It greatly reduces the production cost of porcelain plate painting and becomes the new favorite of the decoration industry.

Before the new kind of printing technology was popularized in the porcelain products industry, there was another porcelain product that was very popular in the decoration field, that is, ceramic tile painting.

Work of art– Ceramic tile painting

Ceramic tile painting, (Portuguese Azulejo), was first introduced from Arabia to Spain and Portugal. Tile painting means drawing patterns on fired bricks or stones.

This handicraft combining painting and firing once played an important role in the Baroque period in the process of European Iberian culture. When the art of ceramic tile painting entered Spain and Portugal in the 16th century, it was only placed on the buildings of churches, monasteries, royal palaces, or noble mansions because of its complicated process and high price, and became the symbol of identity, power and wealth. Later, this decorative art became more and more popular and began to appear in various buildings. Now, it can be seen in many ordinary residences in these two countries.

Ceramic tile painting can be displayed as artwork alone, and can also be pasted on the kitchen walls or bathroom walls as decoration. Instead of spending a lot of money to buy pictures, it is better to make one that is novel in style and pleasing to your eyes.

Application of UV printing in porcelain decoration

The printing accuracy of UV flat-panel printers is constantly improved, and ink droplets are ejected through smaller ejection holes. Common UV flat-panel printers are equipped with two nozzles, one for color and the other for white ink, which is more widely used. UV flat-panel printer can print pictures of Chinese style, European style, modern style, and other patterns on ceramic tiles. The color of the pattern printed by the UV printer is consistent with the color of the design drawing on the computer. The finished product can be like a photograph or a hand painting.

The patterns printed by the UV printer are not only beautiful but also have a concave-convex effect. The colors are bright and not easy to fall off. The ink used in the UV flat-panel printer is unique. Thus, the images can not only be moisture-proof but also not easy to change color under sunlight.

Generally, ceramic tiles with a thickness of less than 15cm can be printed with a UV machine. The process is very simple. It takes only a few minutes from scanning the photos into the computer to making the finished products, which greatly saves time and cost. Types of tiles suitable for UV printing: wall tiles, Polishing brick, and Glazed tiles.

The process of using a UV printer to make a work of art
  1. Place the coated ceramic plate (ceramic tile) on the UV printer. Be careful when placing and minimizing the error to improve the printing effect.
  2. Process the pattern parameters to be printed on the computer. This requires that users can basically operate graphic design software such as Photoshop.
  3. Give instruction”print”. After receiving the command, the device executes the command to print. During printing, the user only needs to wait for the products.
  4. Remove the sample. Since the current UV printers are equipped with LED UV cold light lamps, the UV ink is irradiated to cure during printing, so it can be dried immediately.

In addition, UV flat-panel printers can also produce unique porcelain crafts for customers according to their needs. If the customer brings a beautiful photo or a picture drawn by himself, the printer can scan the photo into the computer, or photograph the manual picture and then scan it into the computer. Within a few minutes, guests can see that their favorite picture has become a beautiful porcelain handicraft.
